The origin of the Christmas tree is older than the actual birth of Jesus Christ, being between the second and third millennium BC.

The oak was in many cases, considered the king of trees. In the winter when the leaves fell, the ancient people used to put different ornaments on it to attract the spirit of nature, thought he had escaped.
The modern Christmas tree originated in Germany and its earliest date from the 16th century. It was from the 19th century that the tradition came to England, France, United States, Puerto Rico and later, in the 20th century, became a tradition in Spain and most of Latin America.
